Be Prepared...Take a Camera

When ever you go it to go hunting, fishing, riding your atv, hiking, rockhounding, looking for that perfect piece of wood to complete a project....whatever it may be, take a camera.

Cameras are small, easy and take great shots (some even make phone calls) so there is no excuse to be without one.  You never know when that perfect shot will appear.  It could be the weather changing, animals showing up, just going over the next hill and there it is...DON'T MISS IT.

Could you be the one that finds the next Rockzilla?

Do you ever just kick at a rock to see what happens.  I don't mean it will yelp and run, but it just might be something very unique.  Take Rockzilla below for example.  It wouldn't look like much if just the top inch or so was showing and the rest was buried.  I'm not saying dig up every rock you walk past, just be aware and check out the ones that seem a little out of place or different in texture, color, shape, etc. That's what we rockhounds do.

Be aware of your surroundings

Ever see one of these little guys?  It's a red velvet mite.  How about that color!  I had been in the area many times, but never saw these guys.  But, after a heavy rain, they were every where.  It was tough to not step on one.
